WEEK 11: A Rollercoaster of Revisions, Reports, and Recognitions
...⋆✧⋆Welcome to My Online Diary⋆✧⋆...
Hi everyone! I'm Archie Salut, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student in the Excellence section. Welcome to my online diary! This year is starting with a mix of emotions, from feeling sad about failures and problems to being excited about new opportunities. Here, I'll share memorable moments with friends, the challenges I face, and the pride in small victories. This blog is about my journey of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and everything that makes this year unforgettable. Welcome to my online diary!
This week has been an emotional whirlwind, full of unexpected challenges and rewarding moments. The frustration peaked when our Practical Research teacher dropped a last-minute bombshell on us. After months of hard work, he suddenly told us that both our research title and Statement of the Problem (SOP) were incorrect—this coming after he had personally approved them! Imagine the confusion and frustration. We had based all of our work on his approval, completing Chapters 1, 2, and 3 with confidence. It felt like the ground had been pulled out from under us. At first, I didn’t know whether to scream or cry, but there wasn’t time for either. We were given a tight deadline, and with our defense scheduled for Monday, we had no choice but to revise everything.
So, instead of breaking down, we did what we had to do. We stayed up until 1 AM, revising every chapter and making sure everything aligned with the new corrections. It was a grueling process—trying to rewrite major sections, reorganize our thoughts, and double-check every detail under pressure. Sleep became a luxury we couldn’t afford, but we knew it was crucial to get everything done right. By the end of the week, exhaustion had settled in, but there was also a sense of accomplishment. We survived, and now, we just have to nail the defense on Monday.
But the chaos didn’t stop there. Alongside the research revisions, we had back-to-back reports in almost every subject. In Creative Writing, we are preparing to present next week about the techniques and elements of drama. My group is focusing on how elements like characterization, plot, dialogue, and setting play a role in crafting a good drama. We also need to cover various techniques like foreshadowing, symbolism, and irony. Breaking down these concepts and simplifying them for our classmates has been a challenge, especially since drama can be complicated, but we're doing our best to make the presentation engaging and easy to understand. We’ve divided the work, so each of us can focus on different aspects, but we know next week will be another round of stress as we gear up to deliver the presentation.
Philosophy wasn’t any easier, with discussions on the nature of being and existentialism, topped off with more reports. In Applied Economics, the quizzes were tough, and we were given practical exercises on supply and demand, forcing us to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
On top of that, Personal Development had its own set of requirements, further piling on the workload. At one point, I felt like I was drowning in all the tasks. It became essential to master time management, prioritizing which subject needed my attention the most while also keeping an eye on the looming research paper deadline. Each day felt like a marathon, sprinting from one task to the next without a moment to catch my breath. There was no room for error, and the pressure was on to perform well in every subject.
Despite the overwhelming workload, the most exciting part of this week came with the release of our report cards and the awarding ceremony. I wasn’t expecting much, given how stretched thin I felt these past few weeks, but to my absolute delight, I earned the With High Honors distinction! It felt like all the sleepless nights, the stress, and the hard work had finally paid off. What made the moment even sweeter was that my friends and I—our entire circle—also earned With High Honors. We had been supporting each other throughout the entire school year, encouraging one another when the stress got too much. To see all of us succeed together was incredibly fulfilling. It wasn’t just an individual achievement; it was a collective victory that we all celebrated with pride. #FRIENDSHIP_GOALS indeed!
As if that wasn’t enough, the awarding ceremony was also a highlight. Walking up to receive my certificate felt surreal, like a moment I had dreamed about finally coming true. The recognition for all the hard work wasn’t just a pat on the back—it was a validation of all the effort we’ve poured into our studies. We all had a reason to smile that day, and it was the perfect way to end an otherwise exhausting week. It reminded me that even when things get tough, perseverance always brings its rewards.
Bible Verse for the Week:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." – Galatians 6:9
This verse has been my guiding light throughout this tough week. There were so many moments when I felt like giving up—between the last-minute revisions, the non-stop reports, and the overwhelming pressure of deadlines, it felt like too much to handle. But this verse reminded me that every ounce of effort is worth it in the end. Even when the path seems difficult, the key is to keep pushing forward, trusting that God has a plan. This week tested my resilience and my ability to stay strong in the face of adversity, but it also showed me that, with faith and hard work, success will come at the right time.
As the week came to an end, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far I’ve come. From sleepless nights working on our research paper to moments of joy during the awarding ceremony, this week taught me the value of perseverance, teamwork, and faith. And while the challenges aren’t over yet—especially with our research defense on Monday—I feel more confident now, knowing that I can handle whatever comes my way. On to the next week, and with God’s guidance, I know I’ll continue to grow and succeed.
