WEEK 1: First Lessons and Self-Awareness
...⋆✧⋆Welcome to My Online Diary⋆✧⋆...
Hi everyone! I'm Archie Salut, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student in the Excellence section. Welcome to my online diary! This year is starting with a mix of emotions, from feeling sad about failures and problems to being excited about new opportunities. Here, I'll share memorable moments with friends, the challenges I face, and the pride in small victories. This blog is about my journey of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and everything that makes this year unforgettable. Welcome to my online diary!
In my first week as a senior student, I was filled with joy because our classes started at 12:30 PM. This later start gave me the precious opportunity to help my parents with household chores in the morning, which made them smile, knowing they had less work to do. It also allowed for brief moments of family bonding, like small drops of sunshine breaking through a cloudy sky. The extra time in the morning also gave me the chance to get ahead on my studies and prepare for the subjects we would tackle that day.
On the first day, my emotions were a whirlwind—a blend of happiness, anticipation, and a touch of nervousness swirling together. As soon as I stepped onto our campus, familiar faces greeted me—friends, and former teachers whose smiles felt like warm embraces, instantly lifting my spirits. When I entered our classroom, I was met with the joyful faces of my classmates, and a wave of happiness washed over me. Memories of the fun times we shared last year came rushing back, and I knew deep in my heart that this final year of senior high would be one to cherish. As soon as I settled into my seat, my friends wasted no time sharing endless stories—tales of their vacations, funny incidents, new crushes, and countless other adventures.
Our first day became even more enjoyable when our adviser, who had been our subject teacher last year, created an atmosphere of comfort and happiness. After reconnecting with each other, we met our new subject teachers, who welcomed us with open arms. Their humor and approachability made me feel like I was in safe hands, easing my nerves and filling me with excitement for the year ahead. As the week unfolded, I began to appreciate the structure of our classes. Each teacher had their own unique way of engaging us, turning subjects into a canvas of interesting and interactive learning. We were assigned various tasks and projects that challenged our minds and allowed our creativity to shine like stars in the night sky.
One standout moment of the week was when our HUMSS 1 and 21st Century teacher organized an election for class officers. This experience was a valuable lesson in leadership and teamwork, reminding us that working together is the key to making our final year truly unforgettable. It was inspiring to see my classmates step up, showing their dedication to making this year one of growth and success. Another memorable moment was in our Personal Development class, where we were asked to reflect deeply and write about "Who am I?" on a whole sheet of paper. This activity felt like a journey inward, helping me to uncover and understand the layers of who I am. Sharing our essays with the class fostered a sense of vulnerability and openness, weaving a stronger bond among us. Our teacher also gave us a task to write comments, thoughts, and feelings about our classmates—honest and unfiltered. This activity stirred emotions in many of us, as we received heartfelt and candid feedback from our peers. It was touching to witness my classmates freely expressing their true emotions, opening their hearts, and showing their authentic selves. This activity encouraged us to embrace who we are and inspired us to improve based on the comments we received. Additionally, it brought us closer together, deepening our understanding of one another.
By the end of the week, I had already learned so much. Time management proved to be a crucial skill, as balancing household chores, studies, and personal activities required careful planning and discipline. Spending time with my friends and sharing our experiences drew us closer, like threads woven into a tapestry of friendship. This week taught me the importance of self-awareness, honest communication, and maintaining a delicate balance between responsibilities and personal time. As I look forward to the rest of the school year, I feel more prepared and excited for what lies ahead. I know there will be challenges, but with the support of my teachers, friends, and family, I am confident that I can overcome them and make the most of this final chapter in my senior year.
Bible Verse for the Week
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
This verse means that with Jesus' help, we can face any challenge and succeed in anything we do. It's a reminder that even when things get tough, we are not alone because Jesus gives us the strength we need to keep going. As you go through our senior year, remember that you have the support of your faith, along with your teachers, friends, and family. This will help you overcome any difficulties and make the most of your experiences.
