WEEK 5: Navigating the Storm
...⋆✧⋆Welcome to My Online Diary⋆✧⋆...
Hi everyone! I'm Archie Salut, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student in the Excellence section. Welcome to my online diary! This year is starting with a mix of emotions, from feeling sad about failures and problems to being excited about new opportunities. Here, I'll share memorable moments with friends, the challenges I face, and the pride in small victories. This blog is about my journey of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and everything that makes this year unforgettable. Welcome to my online diary!
Each day began with a routine as familiar as the rising sun. My alarm would jolt me awake at 6:30 AM, pulling me from the warmth of my bed like a sudden gust of wind. The morning light filtered through my curtains, casting a soft glow that signaled the start of another demanding day. The cool tiles beneath my feet served as a sharp wake-up call, a stark contrast to the comfort of my sheets. The sound of my family’s morning chatter drifted through the house, a comforting hum of life as everyone prepared for the day ahead. After completing the usual morning chores—cleaning, sweeping, and brewing a fresh pot of coffee—I would sit down with my planner. This quiet moment, accompanied by the rich aroma of coffee, was my chance to map out the day, ensuring that every academic task, meeting, and personal responsibility was charted. Organizing my day was like plotting a course on a map, each task a waypoint on the journey to my goals. The weight of it all was heavy, but with each item checked off my list, I felt a surge of accomplishment, a small victory that fueled my motivation to keep going.
This week brought an unexpected but much-needed respite, HAHAHAHAHA! Monday was a holiday—National Heroes Day—which was a blessing in disguise, offering us a breather to work on our Chapter 1 research. The break from the usual chaos felt like a deep breath of fresh air, allowing me to catch my breath and refocus. Our group seized the opportunity, gathering early at a classmate’s house to dive into our research. The day was productive, with significant progress made on Chapter 1, the extra time letting us refine our ideas and ensure thoroughness in our work. Then, as if the universe was on our side, classes were suspended on Wednesday due to an earthquake. The sudden suspension disrupted our plans, but it also offered another chance to tackle pending tasks. I spent the day reviewing notes, organizing study materials, and prepping for upcoming exams. Even with these breaks, the week remained intense, but these pauses in the routine helped recharge my energy, readying me for the challenges ahead.
The week’s toughest challenge came during our GAS Organization’s start. As the newly elected Treasurer, I was eager to prove my worth and contribute to the organization’s success. We were tasked with creating our action plan, a blueprint we would present to our organization teacher. The task was like piecing together a puzzle—each idea, collaboration, and consideration of feasibility, budget, and impact fitting together to form a cohesive plan. The pressure was immense, knowing our proposal would set the tone for the year. When the day of the presentation arrived, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement. We presented our plan with confidence, detailing every step and explaining how it would benefit our peers and the organization. Our teacher’s thoughtful nod at the end was the approval we had worked so hard for, signaling that our plan was on the right track.
The highlight of this week was our 21st-century literature assignment, which tasked us with creating a plot diagram for “Why Women Wash the Dishes.” This assignment was part of our deep dive into traditional Filipino literature, and the story’s exploration of gender roles and domestic responsibilities sparked lively discussions among us. Creating the plot diagram was like dissecting a clock, each part revealing the inner workings of the narrative and the motivations of the characters. Each group then had a representative narrate the story, turning the task into a spirited competition of creativity and delivery. Our representative’s performance was stellar, earning us positive feedback and highlighting how literature’s meaning can shift with each reader’s perspective. This activity underscored the importance of not just understanding content but also conveying it effectively to others.
This week taught me that life’s storms, no matter how fierce, can be navigated with resilience and determination. I learned that breaks, though rare, are essential to regaining focus and energy. Most importantly, I realized that collaboration and careful planning are crucial in overcoming challenges and achieving success, whether in academics, leadership, or personal growth. Each challenge, whether a wave or a storm, is an opportunity to strengthen my resolve and steer closer to my goals.
Bible Verse for the Week
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake."
—Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV)
This verse from Psalm 23 reflects the idea of God guiding and providing for us, even during challenging times. Just as the blog describes navigating the pressures and responsibilities of senior year, this verse reminds us that God is like a shepherd who leads us to peaceful places and restores our strength. Even when life feels overwhelming, God is there to guide us, giving us rest and helping us find our way. Just as the author found moments of respite and strength during a busy week, this verse encourages us to trust that God will provide the calm and support we need to keep going.
